Unorthodox Ways of Accessing Creativity

In the poem “Be Drunk” it addressed the drunkenness as imagination and creativity. Being intoxicated or engulfed in work and the ability to stay continually intoxicated with one’s work are the strongpoints of his writing. There is a reason for this intoxication with art. A radical shift is taking over from unconscious thinking to essential art being created through thought. The kind of drunkenness he speaks of beats time and becomes favorable to creating art. What others may perceive as immoral is the honorable way to dig deep into the imaginative soul and create new art and poetry. There is a time of reflection in which Baudelaire wanted to be free from time and continually creating poetry and art. Unconventional ways to creativity can be a way to open up one’s mind and release their own inhibitions. To become outside of one’s self, and be consumed by art is the drunkenness he ironically speaks about.
